Online search giant Google has launched a new social networking website in its latest attempt to take on Facebook, which now claims more than 500m users.

The Greek parliament has voted in favor of a drastic package of austerity measures intended to save the country from defaulting on its debts.

The proposed tax hikes and spending cuts have been deeply unpopular with the Greek public.

Square gets $100 Million, valued at $1 Billion


One thing is clear investors are in love with Square, the payments company co-founded by Jack Dorsey, the co-creator of Twitter. The company today announced that it has received yet another big slug of funding. The veteran venture capital firm of Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers is leading the $100 million investment in the company. The company is said to be valued at $1 billion. Continue reading

Nasa fixes final shuttle launch date

The last launch of a US space shuttle will take place on Friday 8 July.

The Atlantis ship has the honour of closing out the 30-year orbiter programme and will lift off at 1126 Florida time (1526 GMT).
